Two months ago, Jace Sternberger found it hard to breathe.
After a breakout season with Texas A&M, he announced he was forgoing his senior season and declaring for the NFL Draft.
But his decision to leave school early, or the pursuit of a career that will undoubtedly make him a millionaire, is not what left Sternberger short of breath. That decision wasn’t too difficult for him. The thin mountain air of Colorado, however, is another story.
“You have to be able to control your breathing,” Sternberger said. “I was up here for a week and I was out of breath just laying down in bed to sleep or talking on the phone. Your body has to get used to this.
“There’s not that much space for air compared to being in Kingfisher or Enid, Oklahoma.”
